FAD: Tell us a bit about yourself.
Tabitha: I was born and raised in New York. I currently practice acupuncture and provide herbal health services in Morningside Heights. It is my goal to provide holistic and preventative healthcare for New Yorkers because we are under a unique and constant level of stress.
FAD: What is the story behind Remembering Herbs?
Tabitha: Remembering Herbs was born out of a love for culinary herbs and spices that I inherited from my dad, and a passion for the deep effects of folk medicine. I aim to combine medicinal plants with culinary spices to create formulas that are healthy and full of flavor.
FAD: How does your knowledge of acupuncture and herbalism influence your creations for Remembering Herbs?
Tabitha: Interactions with my clients help me to understand the health and wellness issues that many New Yorkers experience and guides me in developing natural remedies that target these issues. For example, one of our most popular product, Sleep Well, is an organic sleep aid. The formula was created after hearing from clients who were looking for something that promoted relaxation, but was safe to use after drinking and didn’t cause excessive drowsiness the next day.
FAD: What is your personal favorite product from Remembering Herbs and how do you use it?
Tabitha: My current obsession is our Burdock hot toddy honey. It's a bright and citrusy blend of Burdock root, orange peel, ginger and honey. Burdock is one of my favorite herbs because it has a nutty, earthy flavor and prebiotic properties that keep your colon and liver healthy. It is essentially a no-nonsense stress relief herb that roots out anger, irritability and frustration and promotes emotional honesty.
FAD: We love that you use organic and responsibly sourced ingredients. Why is it important to you that the brand is environmentally responsible?
Tabitha: As human beings, our health is highly dependent on the wellness of our planet and our communities. It would be crazy to make medicine for healing purposes that ultimately harms the world around us. Besides using responsibly sourced ingredients, my goal is for Remembering Herbs to be a business that actively gives back to our environment.
