SUSAN ALLBERT is a Britishborn, multimedia artist and designer based in Brooklyn, New York. She works at the interface between materials, making and meaning, drawing on her background in textiles to create objects that are at once beautiful and culturally insightful.
Her work, which is rooted in printmaking, often uses materials that have been overlooked or thrown away. By giving presence to the mundane, her work asks us reexamine the material world we inhabit through the lense of our environment.
About the installation:
Tidemarks draws attention to the links between changing climate patterns and lifestyle choices. Found objects, collected from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy were used to create patterns on velvets and cotton which then become objects in their own right.
